How many years does it take to become a nutritionist? A student can plan on studying a minimum of 4 to 5 years after high school completion to acquire a bachelor's degree in dietetics. The school and course of study must be accredited by the American Dietic Association. Some states require a master's degree, this may add another 2 years in the field of study.
Sports nutritionist requirements include at least a bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition or food. A master's degree is preferred. An apprenticeship is often required. And in all nutrition fields a certification or license broadens employment opportunities and increases pay scale.
Animal nutritionist requirements include a minimum of a bachelor's degree in animal science, agriculture and nutrition. Opportunities abound in the agriculture, exotic animal, research and pet food industries.
